At about 4 a.m. on Thursday, 15 October 2026, security cameras recorded two men at the Paróquia São Martinho de Lima in the Cajuru neighborhood of Curitiba; one climbed the wall, cut the wires, switched off the electric fence and took the wiring from the parish house's electricity meter and a newly installed pole. It was the fourth wiring theft at the parish; earlier ones included a theft on 30 September and one in July that the priest estimated cost more than R$3,800 and left the parish office without power. Father Messias Galieta said the community feels abandoned by the authorities and fears the parish house could be invaded next.

Repeated copper-wire theft from parish property, mapped to incidentType vandalism. Coordinates are the Nominatim pin for the Cajuru neighborhood (the parish did not resolve), labeled approximate.
