Between Thursday afternoon 24 September and Friday morning 25 September 2026, one or more intruders forced the entrance of Église Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul in Dampierre-sur-le-Doubs (Doubs, France) with a crowbar, forced the locked wooden tabernacle door, stole the ciborium containing consecrated hosts, and threw the hosts on the floor. The mayor discovered the open church door on Friday. Gendarmes launched a witness appeal. The diocese treats the host desecration as a major profanation; the church was closed pending a Mass of reparation.
