Field altar spray-painted at Gietrzwałd Marian sanctuary

Polsat News reported on 11 October 2026 that the field altar at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Gietrzwałd was defaced with spray-painted slogans mocking the faith, including “To jest dzieło ministranta” and “Się odmaluje, proszę księdza.” The canons who run the sanctuary said it is regularly damaged by unknown people, that trees along the Rosary Alley have also been vandalized, that the problem is growing, and that the matter will be reported to police.
