On August 26, 2026, shelling of the frontline village of Horsk (Hirsk) in Chernihiv region set fire to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s wooden St. Nicholas Church. The Chernihiv Eparchy said the pre-revolutionary building, constructed in 1908–1911, was completely destroyed. No deaths were reported at the church.
Regional administrator Viacheslav Chaus and local reporting also described a Russian Molniya drone/shelling strike. The church had served surrounding villages for 115 years.
