Parys Gazette reported on 8 October 2026 that, the previous week, a burglar broke into the historic St Edward's Anglican Church (built 1915) opposite the post office in Dolf Street, Parys. He got onto the grounds over the wall, forced a door at the consistory, vandalized the bathrooms and left a trail of destruction in the church building and on the premises. Caretaker Mpho Ngobeni said police, who noticed the man on the grounds under suspicious circumstances at about 6:38 a.m. on Thursday, alerted her. The church was also broken into in 2024. The paper links the break-ins to a wider copper-theft problem in the town.
